History

Helena began as a rough and wild western town with mining its main occupation beginning with the discovery of gold in 1864.  At one point, Helena had more millionaires per capita than any other town in the world.  There are many stories of an underground tunnel leading from prominent places such as the infamous Montana Club to Big Dorothy’s, the town brothel.  Downtown Helena is a treasure indeed, with many long-standing business establishments such as The Parrot Confectionary, Saunders Jewelry and The Atlas Building.  Other buildings of historic prominence include the stunning St. Helena’s Cathedral in downtown Helena, the newly renovated Capitol Building, The Civic Center, where most entertainment and events are held and St. Charles Hall on Carroll College’s Campus.  Peppered throughout the west side of town are magnificent mansions.  Helena is a state government town with a higher than average population working for either the state or federal government.  Fort Harrison and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital are just on the outside of town.

The subdivision is conveniently located two and a half miles the North East city limits of Helena.  While this house looks modest from the exterior, inside, get ready for an eye appealing tour.  It was built in 1997 by popular Helena builder, Willy Charles.

Exterior

Upon approaching this magnificent home, you will immediately notice the lush green plants that welcome you onto the front porch.  A tour around the residence on the beautifully manicured lawn emanates a sense of excitement that is manifested when you walk to the back of the house.  Behind the house is a beautiful cement drive way with lots of potential for back yard events.  Beautiful roses were carefully planted around the sunny back.  The current owners have landscape plans from Chadwick’s Nursery for the new owner to finish their wonderful ideas.  To complete the exterior, there is a state of the art security system that will protect your treasures as you enjoy your new home.

Entry and Great Room

The front door opens into a large entry way, which is modernly painted in teal with white trim.  The floor is a soft blue carpet that continues throughout the first sitting area.  The first great room is exquisitely painted bright yellow with white trim. There you will find a marble framed gas fireplace with a white mantle large enough to show off your prized figurines.  It has adjustable lights to help accentuate the mood.  You walk through this room into a magnificently painted music room with a vaulted ceiling.  The walls are painted with scenes to please your senses.  The first mural brings the second gas fireplace to life with English painted tile and a marble floor surrounding the fireplace.  Above and around the fireplace is a Grecian scene with pillars, gargoyles and statues. There is room in here for your grand piano and plenty of sitting area for your guests to enjoy the show.  On the opposite wall is a scene of Adam and Eve, during their innocent stage, reminiscent of all our beginnings.  The wall facing the kitchen area is painted light lavender.

The Kitchen

A Kitchen has been called the centerpiece of family life, and what a centerpiece this one is!  It has four exits:  pantry/laundry room, music room, a double living room and formal dining room.  Beginning with the white and black tiled floor, this expansive area has everything the chef in you needs to entertain friends.  It has a traditional sized breakfast nook by the kitchen to enjoy simpler meals.  To the right as you walk through the entryway is a beautiful wine bar.  The mirrored and lighted cabinet holds 88 wine glasses and has a large wine cooler.  Next to this is a computer area.  Across from this area is another lighted cabinet to showcase your china, which is attached to the island that has an inlaid Gen Air stove.  Surrounding the island are 19 cupboards and drawers to store all the necessary equipment for your family.  The bar is white tiled and cupboards are pale oak.  The sink has a garbage disposal attached and as you are cleaning up, you can rest assured that your dishes will be sanitized and cleaned in the silent running Bosch dishwasher.  The expansive refrigerator and cleverly laid out appliance garage complete this kitchen.

Pantry, Laundry Room, Playroom and Garage

Around the corner is a lighted pantry to hold all your shelved items.  The shelving units were installed so you can actually find your goods.  Through this hall is the laundry room, which is tiled same as the kitchen.  The laundry room has light colored cabinets with eight cubbies to hold your car keys, as it is the entry way from the oversized heated garage also.

The garage has 15 closet size storage units, a cement floor, and an automatic door and is insulated. The underground sprinkler controls are also in the garage.

As you enter from the garage, there is a charming 8’x10’ playroom for children, decorated with teddy bear border and midnight blue and yellow star wall paper on the ceiling.  It also has lush blue carpet and a built in cubby with white wall paint.  It has cable and phone hook ups easily accessible.

Double Family Room

The double family room is nicely decorated with a manly green paint and fishing border.  The third fireplace is located in the first half of the room with wood frame and wood mantle.  It has hardwood floors and five white framed windows.  It exits out to the patio.  You can welcome the day in with a beautiful view of Mount Helena.

Formal Dining Room and Half Bath

Through the entryway by the wine bar is a spacious formal dining room which has beautiful floral designed wall paper.  Many dinner parties and gatherings can be held in this room which also has a window to catch the sun setting over the Rocky Mountains.  Nearby, there is a well-located half bath decorated in pink tiles on both the floor and vanity.  The vanity has six storage facilities for you to store your guest towels and necessaries.

Upstairs

From the great room and entry is a double staircase, with a landing centered as you ascend to the bedrooms.  It is covered in the lavish blue carpet.

You turn the gold colored knob and experience a wonderful site.  It is a nice sized white room with a pink peony border.  It holds a full bed and a dresser as well as a double fold out closet door to hold your belongings.

Next to this room is a sizeable bathroom with green floor and vanity tiles.  It has an amphibian theme and border accenting the cream paint.

Across the expansive hall, you will turn another gold colored handle to a bedroom with a neutral paint.  The border in this room has the sun, moon and stars. This room holds a queen sized bed and plenty of space for a dresser.  It also has the double fold out closet.

Master Suite

Down the hall toward the master bedroom is a four shelved linen closet.  The door has gold colored knob.  It stands next to the massive master suite.

Turning the gold colored handle, you continue walking on the plush blue carpet into the Master bedroom.  It holds a king sized bed and has an attractive blue, pink and green ribbon border accenting the white paint.  Off to the left is the cream master bath which has blue tiles on the floor and both vanities.  The jetted garden tub is encased in white Wayne's coating and blue tiles and is highlighted by hand painted glass tiles.  Many relaxing nights can be spent in this room as there would be no reason to rush out of the calming atmosphere this room brings.  Across from the first vanity is the five shelved linen closet.  Another vanity is situated between the tub and glassed in shower.  Across from the shower are a privacy wall and the beige toilet.  This room also has a lighted large and well organized walk in closet that is also covered in the same blue carpet.

Recreation

Helena is a recreational enthusiasts dream comes true! We experience four distinct seasons.  In the summer, you can fish and swim in the Missouri River, Canyon Ferry or Spring Meadow Lake.  Snow lovers flock to Great Divide Ski Area, which is only a few miles away.  Morning adventures await you on Mount Helena and the city itself maintains over ten parks for families.  Autumn can bring a rainbow of colors on the tree lined streets and spring is a perfect time to explore the many hiking trails just outside the city limits.  Runners, walkers and cyclists are encouraged to use their own power to get to their destination.  Helena is a wonderful friendly place waiting for you to call it home.
