This wildlife sanctuary is located 6 miles south of Melstone, MT, and only 1.5-hour drive from Billings, MT (Montana’s largest city). The ranch consists of 2315 acres that has rolling grass ridges, hayfields, meadows and timbered knobs and coulees that provides excellent wildlife habitat. The amazing road network in a combination with lower elevation hills makes this a gentleman’s hunting ranch as you can get to anywhere with a truck or UTV/ATV.

Sniper’s Knob Wildlife Preserve provides a year-round home to all the wildlife species. This truly is a Sportsman’s Paradise with hunting opportunities that include: trophy bull elk that can reach into the 400” category, mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, turkey, black bear, mountain lion, coyotes, and even has a prairie dog town to keep you up on your shooting skills or invite a friend for some summer fun.

The elk, deer, and antelope are resident herds that allow the hunter to watch them throughout all four seasons. Come pick up their sheds in the spring, watch them develop throughout the summer, hunt the elk, deer, antelope rut in archery and rifle season. There also is an abundance of turkeys that will get you outside for a spring gobbler hunt. This gives the sportsman a chance to harvest almost all species of game on the same ranch. The ranch is located in hunting district 590 and qualifies for landowner preference for trophy bull elk, which is a near 100% chance of draw (resident or non-resident). It also qualifies for landowner preference for antelope and has shown 100% draw statistics. The sportsman can hunt mule deer, whitetail deer, turkey, and other species with just a general hunting license.

The ranch has 6 wells ranging from 5-180 GPM along with a pipeline system that feeds 7 tanks. There is a natural spring and a 15’x20’ pit where the elk love to wallow.

There is currently 100 acres of crop ground that is grass and alfalfa, with another 6-700 more tillable acres that could be put into production (there’s still some old alfalfa stands in these areas).

In the spring of 2020, about 3/4 mile of gravel road, underground power, and fiber optic was installed leading to the home/cabin site location that has beautiful views of the property. A well was drilled at this site in the fall of 2020.
